About Chantel
Founder & owner | Chantel Designs
Growing up in my parents' decorating company, United Decorators, in Brooklyn, NY, I was immersed in the world of design from a very young age, helping clients and designers to collaboratively put together their desired looks. My hands-on experience included working closely with reupholsterers, participating in the construction of window treatments, overseeing custom furniture builds, and making choices regarding fabrics and trims. After spending time in the field of Physical Therapy, I came to realize that I deeply missed the creative aspect of design, prompting me to return to school to further immerse myself in the study of interior design.
As I began my career in design, I quickly recognized the immense value of the technical skills I had acquired from my family's business. Additionally, I found that my education in physical therapy greatly enhanced my understanding of how individuals physically function and age within their homes. This unique combination of experiences allows me to bring a thoughtful perspective to my design view and execution.
My aesthetic is distinctly client-driven, ensuring a personalized experience tailored to reflect the best version of each individual client, resulting in a space that truly embodies their identity rather than my own. I hold a strong belief that our homes serve as our sanctuaries, creating an environment filled with energy that empowers us to start our day with enthusiasm, while also providing a space for recharging and relaxation upon our return. In this capacity, I assist my clients in determining what their ideal space will feel like for them.
I consider myself a versatile creative, with interests that extend beyond interior design. I also design jewelry, style clothing, and plan events. Moreover, I incorporate principles of feng shui and the use of crystals into my designs whenever my clients express openness to these concepts. Additionally, my love for cooking inspires me to design kitchens that prioritize optimal function and ease of use within the space.
